HOW WE USE CFD

The main tool we use to work our CFD magic is SIEMENS Star-CCM+.

Some of our most common simulations investigate:

  • ship hull resistance and powering calculations:
    • at full scale
    • including sinkage and trim at speed
    • including hull-propeller interaction
  • hull form optimization and appendage alignment
  • bubble sweep-down interference with gondola or sonar equipment
  • airflow, including exhaust gas concentration/temperature and helideck turbulence.

We use both in-house and third party high-performance clusters to guarantee we can meet even the most demanding simulation or tightest schedule.
